Community Meeting on Traffic Issues
On Tuesday, May 21st Mayor Carlo DeMaria and the City of Everett held the 4th successful open forum to discuss the possible Wynn Everett development at the former Monsanto site on Route 99, along Lower Broadway. The focus of the meeting was traffic and transportation issues and proposed mitigation plans.
Mayor DeMaria and over 250 residents came together in an effort to stimulate a community dialogue regarding the redevelopment proposal. The Mayor was joined by David Rodrigues, Assistant City Solicitor, James Errickson, Director of Planning and Development, Representatives from Wynn Resorts, including their traffic consultant, Jeffery Dirk, from Vanasse & Associates, Inc., as well the City of Everett’s traffic consultants, Rich Benevento and Jim Fitzgerald of World Tech Engineering.
The presenters delivered an informative presentation that included proposed methods for limiting the amount traffic and alternative methods of transportation that would provide easier access to Boston.
Residents were updated on current traffic and access planning studies, as well as environmental impact reports for a high activity center, such as the proposed development. Also presented were parking and traffic feasibility studies, design of multi-location corridor and signal systems, and evaluation of mitigation plans for consistency with public transportation and capital expenditure planning goals.
